I decided to create this software for several
reasons. I use iPhoto software to add my photos when I create a DVD of
a movie (with iDVD or iMovie HD). To manage my albums via iPhoto, turns
itself loud and uncomfortable.
That's why I decided to create OYA-App which manages my own albums, by
adding tags in the finder comment, or simply by creating symbol links
between my photos and my album
represented by a directory. This management is light, symbol links use
few KiloBytes, and at the proper time, I can add or delete my albums
in iPhoto as I want.
The use of symbol links have the advantage to link the wanted file even
when it is moved to another directory.
At present time, I have almost 3000 pictures. Try to manage this
quantity of pictures with iPhoto, you will see that is loud, due to
iPhoto loading all thumbnails of the pictures at launch.
By adding, spotlight comment in your images, you will be able to retreive them by a spotlight search.
I hope you will appreciate this software, and I am opened to add
functionnalities on demand.
The OYA-App interface is divided into four parts :
- Part A : will display all images supported in the selected
directory (in your album, or in the directory by the command).
- Part B : display all your OYA album. To browse your images
contained in your OYA album, select it either by arrows keys or mouse.
- Part C : display Exif information and finder comment of
the selected OYA album or image. You can set your own finder comment
(to retreive your image by a Spotlight search.
- Part D : Commands button.
- To do a multiple selection into the images browser, press <Shift Button>.
- To open a directory to browse press <Command> + <O>.
- To update the finder command, tape your text into the bottom text field and press <Command> + <U>.
- To Create a new OYA album, press <Command> + <N>
kyes. A window will be displayed in which the new album name will be
asked.
- To delete an OYA album, select your album to delete, and press <Command> + <D> keys.
- To delete images contained into an OYA album, select your images
(by arrows keys or mouse plus shift key), and press <Command> +
<M>. (Only the symbol links will be deleted, no your own pictures).
- To import an OYA album or selected images, create your selection
and press <Command> + <I> to import the selection
into iPhoto suite program.
- To display a bigger image check the button named "Display image", to see more details you can see in the thumbnail.
I'm waiting for any ideas, but in the next release, a orientation tool will be added.
